  • Goal Clarification

In the initial sessions, the coach helps the client define clear, specific, and achievable goals, which can range from career advancement to improving relationships.

    Self-Discovery

The coach uses techniques like powerful questioning and active listening to help the client gain self-awareness. This process allows the client to identify their strengths, values, and any limiting beliefs that may be holding them back.

  • Strategy and Action Plan

With a clearer understanding of their goals and obstacles, the client and coach collaborate to develop a customized action plan. This plan breaks down large goals into manageable, actionable steps.

    Accountability and Support.

The coach provides consistent support and accountability to keep the client motivated and on track. Regular check-ins and progress assessments help reinforce new habits and ensure the client is moving forward.

Not Therapy. Not Counselling

Distinguishing Coaching from Therapy and Mentoring.

Coaching primarily focuses on the client's future, aiming to enhance performance and unlock potential. While coaching helps individuals set and achieve goals, therapy or counselling is more concerned with exploring the client's past to resolve psychological or emotional issues, including mental health disorders. It is important to note that a coach does not possess the qualifications to diagnose or treat mental health.

Not mentoring. Mentoring often involves guidance from someone with greater experience in a particular field, who shares their knowledge and advice with someone less experienced. In contrast, coaching is a non-directive process where the coach supports the client in discovering their own solutions, rather than offering advice based on the coach's personal experience.
